The Secretary General's comments imply far reaching changes in the future roles and responsibilities of NATO. This shows how NATO has evolved itself from the nature of debates in 1990s such as "NATO has to go out of area or out of business" to the present rhetoric of global reach. NATO is yet to embrace Ukraine and Caucasus and is already over-stretched in Afghanistan. The proposal for discussions with global partners in a broad security forum will tend to undermine UN. The core focus of NATO-the Common Defence aspect of member countries would get diluted into a collective security role. NATO is yet to consolidate its position in the european arena. The world theatre is too big and diversified for NATO to assume the role of a Global actor at this juncture.

Excellent positioning regarding the civil dimensions of our engagements and the necessity of a broader cooperation.
We have to remind ourselves that peace and civilization are about building everywhere like at home. Rome begun to decay when they forgot this vision or weren't able to follow it anymore. And all the other civilizations of the past failed this way.
NATO's future depends on a bold vision. We don't have to reinvent the wheel, but just to remind the lessons of our bold and great history.
Rome was build by Engineers, their science and their concrete, not by the Military and their swords. They made peace everywhere with their achievements, the military were there only to protect them.
NATO has to give up with making politics and start protecting the peace made by us, the civilians of Europe. That's what you are paid for.

I thought that climate change was already debunked. Why is it still being discussed?

I totally agree with the
I totally agree with the NATO's Gen.Sec. statments. As agriculture technician, lawyer and teacher of law (included intellectual property), student in economics (especially in relation to poverty and civil protection wich I am an expert of), I am convinced that a great effort has to be made on a real "cultural revolution" wich should lead to changing our views, habits and practices in respect to the issues quoted. Practically I suggest also that NATO inform the public in schools over those issues. I want help you that way. Philippe DURDU, 1, rue de Suarlée, 5080 RHISNES Belgium
