Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is likely to endure indefinitely. It may last forever with all of the fake colors, tastes, and trash in the mix, as well as the white spaghetti. Everything should be OK. As long as the box hasn’t been opened, I normally give stuff like this up to a year beyond the expiry date. The cheese sauce packet has enough preservatives to keep it fresh for at least a year beyond the best by date on the container. Toss the package if it has been opened or if anything in it looks or smells strange. Otherwise, make it up and have fun with it.

Today I cooked mac and cheese. It’s the powdered cheese, and the package hasn’t been opened. When I put in the powdered cheese, it had a strange dark hue. When I looked at the expiry date, it said ‘best utilized by July 17, 2014.’ It was almost a year ago.

Yes, if it is still dry in the box mix, that thing is still excellent far beyond the expiry date. May goods, dry mixes, and noodles can remain fresh for a long time provided they are not bloated or rusty. Have fun with your mac and cheese!

If it’s the sort that comes in the box with the dry noodles and cheese flavor package, it’ll still be edible, if a touch old and stodgy. Those things have the potential to endure a lifetime.

I just created a package that was two years beyond its expiration date. The noodles were excellent, but the cheese sauce in the foil packaging was dark and stained when I opened it. So I threw it out and replaced it with genuine cheese that I heated in the microwave.
