There are many ways to break your ankle. Some of them include: falling, tripping over something and walking into a door jam. If you’ve broken your ankle, the first thing that should come to mind is how will I get this fixed? The question remains whether there’s an easy way for someone who has been in a cast or otherwise immobilized since their injury.
Just so you know, it will hurt like hell. Believe me, I’ve shattered my ankle three times and saved it four times. You’ll be in excruciating agony for many months as a result of this, but if you’re dead set on it, here you go. The second way is the fastest; the first may only sprain it, but believe me on this one. I’d attempt the first way before moving on to the second, which would break your ankle bones (more than one).
1.) Find a typical dinner table height table and place it on a large open carpeted area. Gather a slew of pillows and blankets and arrange them around the table so that when you leap, your feet land on the carpet and when you fall, you land on the pillows.
2.) Purchase a pair of 3-4 inch high heels. They should be a touch too large but not so huge that they slip off as you walk. Nail or glue a little piece of wood to the bottom of one of the heels. The wood should be approximately an inch tall and thick, but not as broad as the heel. Place the wood on the outer, not the inner, edge.
3.) Sit on the table, facing the pillows. Do a few practice leaps first to get a feel for how to jump so your feet land on the ground rather than cushions. After that, put on your high heels.
4. )Jump with just one foot (the one with the wood nailed to it). Allow your ankle to tighten somewhat so that it snaps rather than merely stretching little as it would if your foot muscles were lax.
Jumping advice:
1.) Land with your heel first, not your ball of your foot.
2.) Put all of your weight on the foot you wish to break. When you leap, don’t let your other foot even contact the ground.
3.) Closing your eyes will assist you.
4.) Land firmly, not softly. Slam your foot into the ground hard enough that it shatters, but softly enough that it strains.
Or, of course, there’s the tried-and-true (though a bit overdone) approach of using a hammer. If you do this, be sure to swing it in a high arc and smash it down, using two hands, hitting squarely on the ankle bone bump, and securing your foot to a hard surface. (Safe because you will most likely subconsciously attempt to relocate your foot away from danger.) If it’s on concrete, the hammer’s power will shatter your ankle bones between the two hard surfaces, resulting in a more complete break on both sides of your ankle.
Frequently Asked Questions
