Recently, when I start Chrome, the URL displays “https://www.google.co.uk/?gws rd=ssl percent 22” this has never occurred before If I put google.co.uk into another browser, it opens with the same additional extension. I did some research and found that adding “ncr” at the end of the backslash had no impact. Is there anything more I can do to have the extension taken down? I know it’s not a virus or malware, but seeing it differently now irritates me.

You’re presumably using http://www.google.co.uk/ as your home page, or you’re not defining the protocol (http versus https) at all. Google has configured a redirection such that if you go to the unsecured (http) url, it instantly redirects to the safe (https) one and adds that url parameter to their own analytics (so they know how many times the redirection has occurred). If you change your browser’s homepage to https://www.google.co.uk/, you will no longer notice the additional url parameter.

?gws rd=ssl is merely a Google security certificate, and there is nothing you can do about it. Every day, more and more sites will be https:// and will have some ssl in the url since this is how they encrypt our information so hackers cannot see what we input while sniffing our connections.

I have to giggle at all the foreigners that lie about what it is. This is not right or good, but notice how they ALL LIE. I’ve been trying for a long time to get rid of this. They will not inform you how to get rid of it since it is not in their best interests.
