What does "put the lotion in the basket" mean?

I was listening to Dane Cook when I came across this phrase. I’ve never watched Silence of the Lambs, so I’m not sure what this signifies. Can somebody assist me?

  • I’m not sure what it means, it’s just part of the movie, buffalo bill lowers lotion in a basket down the well to his prisoner and tells her “it rubs the lotion on the skin or else it gets the hose again,” meaning if she doesn’t put lotion on he will soak her with the water hose, after she puts lotion on he tells her to put the lotion in the basket so he can pull it back up……..otherwise you lost me.

  • It’s a line from the film “Silence of the Lambs,” in which a killer locks a lady in a well in the basement. He lowers her lotion so she may apply it to her skin in preparation for him to build garments out of it. He tells her to “place the lotion [back] in the basket” after she applies it.

  • In SOTL, Buffalo Bill (played by Ted Levine) puts a kidnapped girl in a well and instructs “it” as he calls it to apply lotion on herself. Then he constantly orders her to put the lotion in the basket.

  • In the film, a character gets trapped in a large hole in the earth. She is given lotion, which is delivered to her in a basket. “Put the lotion on the skin to keep the mosture in,” says a classic phrase from the film. The individual is then told to “replace the lotion in the basket.” Very wonderful film; there’s also a great spoof of it in Joe Dirt.

is an excellent source of information on the film.

  • It’s a line from the film The Silence of the Lambs, when Buffalo Bill tells his hostage to put the lotion he gave her in the hanging basket so he can get it out of the pit she’s in. **spoiler** He forces her to apply lotion while starving her in order to preserve her skin in excellent condition so that he may skin her when he kills her.

You should see the film at least once.

  • It translates to “Place the F***ING lotion in the basket.”

  • He states in the movie that he applies the lotion on his skin so he doesn’t get the hose again, implying that if she doesn’t, he would drown her.

  • It’s a quotation from Silence of the Lambs, but when a “20-year-old” refers to the film, it’s generally a joke that means I love you and want to keep you and would do everything to have you, it’s a joke about keeping someone you love….tie up hahaha

  • You may just JUST WATCH THE MOVIE.
