Bakey’s Wakey Wakey Eggs

While it is unknown where the phrase “Wakey, Wakey, Eggs and Bakey” originated, it was first popularized in the 1995 film Jury Duty, starring Pauly Shore, and is said by Shelley Winters as she wakes up her son to bring him his jury notice summons.

I used to think it was “wakey wakey, hands off sy.”
Actually, I believe the phrase is “wakey wakey, eggs AND bakey,” referring to the popular meal of eggs and bacon.
That doesn’t really tell you where it came from, but it does tell you what the saying refers to.

where? I’m not sure, but it seems to be a sing-song way of saying, “Wake up, the eggs are baking” (maybe frying, but bake rhymes with wake). So, if breakfast is almost ready, you should get out of bed.
